Hey guys,
So Dell is replacing my GPU with the HD 8990 OEM (which apparently is a rebranded 7990 Malta) but what I am seeing on the GPU boss comparison site are totally different specs than the 7990. Was the 8990 originally suppose to be a totally different card?
Here are the specs they are saying the 8990 is suppose to have:
GPU brand: AMD
GPU name: Aruba
Market: Desktop
Clock speed: 1,050 MHz
Is dual GPU: Yes
Reference card: None
Shading units: 5,120
Texture mapping units: 320
Render output processors: 96
Compute units: 80
Pixel rate: 100.8 GPixel/s
Texture rate: 336 GTexel/s
Floating-point performance: 10,752 GFLOPS
Memory clock speed: 1,500 MHz
Effective memory clock speed: 6,000 MHz
Memory bus: 768 bit
Memory: 6,144 MB
Memory type: GDDR5
Memory bandwidth: 576 GB/s
And this is the specs of the 8990 (rebranded 7990):
GPU brand: AMD
GPU name: Malta
Market: Desktop
Clock speed: 950 MHz
Turbo clock speed: 1,000 MHz
Is dual GPU: Yes
Reference card: AMD Radeon HD 7990 950 MHz 6 GB
Shading units: 4,096
Texture mapping units: 256
Render output processors: 64
Compute units: 64
Pixel rate: 60.8 GPixel/s
Texture rate: 243.2 GTexel/s
Floating-point performance: 7,782 GFLOPS
Memory clock speed: 1,500 MHz
Effective memory clock speed: 6,000 MHz
Memory bus: 768 bit
Memory: 6,144 MB
Memory type: GDDR5
Memory bandwidth: 576 GB/s
So can somebody tell me what the deal is with this? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
