Hi guys, I have a problem. 3 years ago, I bought a pc (MSI 880GM-E41 m.b., Phenom II X2 B55, Powercolor 5670 512MB GDDR5, 4GB ddr3 1333mHz), and I managed to unlock all cores, so for 3 years I had Phenom II X4 555 processor, and everything worked like charm! Until last week when I reinstalled OS. After that, it worked fine for 5 days, and then start crashing, shutting down when playing games, or running memory tests. I have checked temperatures of CPU and they are just fine (NOT above 60 degrees celsius) so I am 100% sure it's not overheating, because I start it up right away after it shuts down, and temp's are below 60. I started looking and testing, and I conclude that problem is those 2 cores that I have unlocked. When I shut down one of those cores, no matter which one, pc is stable and has no problems in gaming and testing.
I haven't ever changed any of those settings in bios like voltage of CPU or haven't tried to change core speed (3.2Ghz default), or anything like that. Only thing I have done is Load optimal settings in my BIOS before installing new OS, and setting option Unlock core - Enable; and option ACC - Auto.
I suspect it might be problem in my PSU, but I haven't had time to test it, or to try out another one on my pc, its first on my to do list.
If anyone knows what might be the problem, please let me know too.
Thanks!

there are many possibilities..

1. processor degrade..
Old cpu, working on beyond specification, usually degrade faster. it can cause bluescreen or random shutdown.
Try to add your processor voltage trough bios..
2. Memory error.
Try to clean memory golden bridge (yellow connector) with contact cleaner or pencil eraser..Memory error can cause by oxidation..
3. Weak PSU.
the only way is replace your psu.
What is your psu..?

But since you said if you disable one core then all work flawlessly, this is maybe weak processor core.
then i suggest you to try add more voltage on your processor..just one notch more and see the result..

Thanks for the hints!
I don't think that problem is in memory because, when I test memory with 3 cores there is no problem (test run to the end, with no errors), but when I try to test it with 4 cores it shuts down almost instantly. I will try to clean them those connectors anyway.

My PSU is Codgen 500W, and I think this is the problem. I will try out other brands of PSU, and if that doesn't work, I will try to change voltage on my CPU.

And I forgot to mention, when all 4 cores are unlocked, PC can boot, and enter OS (win 7) and work "normal" until CPU is under load. Also my CPU temp isn't showing any temperature at all (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/). While on 3 cores it shows temperatures of all 3 cores... Confusing right!? :)

yep..
Your PSU is main problem..
that's a generic psu..with low quality component..
I suggest you to replace it ASAP.

Take a good psu from corsair, seasonic, or other well known brand PSU.Even 350 watt good quality PSU is enough to run your system flawlessly.

And yes, if it shutdown/bluescreen while high load happens because one core or more cannot run perfectly in full load.in other words, that's mean your processor lack of power..
Add slightly more voltage will solve this problem.
But..
if problems still occurs after you add voltage to your processor and replace your psu..that's mean you have faulty motherboard vrm due to low quality PSU..

I've run B55 (unlocked from 555) for years..
And it's normal if your processor in unlocked mode is not give any temperature.

Remember, replace your PSU first..
