Hi Guys,

I have a HP Touchsmart 15 ba-181ea sleekbook and in a fit of madness i decided to put Ubuntu on it INSTEAD of windows 8 as i was doing ubuntu for a college module. Needless to say i missed windows 8 sorely but have had trouble getting it back onto my system(hard drive was formatted during ubuntu install).

The main problem i experienced when i installed windows 8 again from a downloaded bootable USB is that it didnt automatically activate with the license key i though was on the BIOs and would be used automatically.

anyone have any ideas on a way i can get my legitimate windows 8 OS back with drivers et al? :)

My laptop has the CoA sticker of course however the COA for Windows 8 does NOT provide you with the product key. Since moving to the UEFI Bios or w/e its called they have supposidly embedded the product key into the BIOS on the motherboard. problem is when i install a generic windows 8 copy its not using that product key and saying it needs to be activated.

The only thing i can think of is that because its a HP laptop the product key will only work with HP Windows 8 recovery disks which are ~40euros to buy because i didnt burn them when i had my initial windows 8 preinstalled copy. I'm reluctant to pay 40euro so im hoping somebody has a solution or work around to getting my preinstalled version of windows 8 back onto my legally bought laptop which is now running a legally installed copy of Ubuntu.
