Microphone volume problems

Hi, I just finished building my new PC and I'm having some problems with my microphone volume. Its very very low. I can get it up to 2 bars if I yell into it. I'm using a Asus Sabertooth z87 mother board in a Haf x case. Both front and back panel have same problem. I am using the most up to date realtek HD drivers from the asus website. Everything is turned up to max but mic volume is very low.
When I uninstall the audio driver the microphone works fine, however this way my 5.1 surround is not supported.
Please help :(

drivers are all up to date and all volume bars are turned up to max. It seems to be a problem with the driver itself, as when I remove the driver the Microphone works fine

When the driver is removed my microphone works fine, but then my 5.1 surround sound does not work as it has no supporting driver, how to fix this?
