I am using ubuntu 13.04. problem is its quite annoying and here are the list of problems
1.If im using vlc or rhytm box ( muisc player) it works fine untill i open the you tube. if i do so then one of the sound will stop even though i restart it...
so i have searched for solution and mostly i run this command "sudo alsa force-reload" which works some times and other time it fails too
2. Internet ( wifi) use to work good at the beginning but now even it is taking a lot of time to load google page besides i checked at the same time with windows 7 & 8( thought may b due to excessive traffic as it is shared wifi) where they work normally. some times the wifi signal is strong but still i get "no internet connection" or "server unable to load"
3. this is very vexing problem now, if one app or browser suddenly strucks then i have to press the power button in laptop to shut it down.Mostly in windows you will have task manager to counter this problem but here no key in keyboard works except that power button ( thank God at least that works or else i shuld have wait until the battery drains out :D ) ........
even sometimes i triggered that "xkill" where sometimes it works and other times it sleeps ;) .....
even evertyime im getting error pop ups so finally decided to repair the system but i want to know that will i loose my files like i have shell scripts and some other project packages which i have some work with them for next 3 months so i dont want to format it........so any solution is appreciated
I gave the same OS to my friend & he said its working lile charm with no issues so i just want to repair it .........

Whether you will lose your files or not that depends where you have kept it.. Assuming that you have kept them in /home and it has been mounted to a separate partition and not in the same partition where / resides, then i guess there will not be a problem with re-install, just do not format the partition for /home. Once you create the new user during partition you can always copy the the content from the old folder (which now ubuntu not realize as a user now).

But however this is risky.... the better would be to just take a backup...

first thanks for ur quick reply ...but thing is i have single partition and everything is in root directory (/) . even i thought of doing that ( which u mentioned above) but i dont want to take risks so i thought there may be any alternative just like in windows u will always have that repair option ( booting through dvd) ....

Sorry, booting from Ubuntu Disk or Flash drive will give option for doing fresh install or running. Repair is not available as of now.. Taking a backup and fresh install seems like only option to me.. If it would have been a single problem would have looked into that. Maybe you can reinstall the applications that re giving trouble...
