Hey guys.
Running a Radeon 7950 3Gb card on a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H motherboard.
Have 3 monitors (2 on DP 1 on DVI). Problem:
Computer won't boot with screens plugged in. I unplug the screens, windows boots and I plug the screens in all works fine. So the computer does not go past BIOS when I have 3 screens plugged in.
Please help me solve this issue.

Thank you

Yes newest drivers installed, and no it won't boot with any of the 3 screens. 1 is plugged dp to dp, another is DVI to dp (with an adaptor) and third is DVI to DVI. What do you mean by active adaptor?

Thank you for your time

I run 4 monitors on a 6950. 2 DVI and 2 DP to "Active" DVI. Most AMD cards will only run 2 monitors without active adaptors. Monitors 3 and 4 have to use active adaptors. I use 2 of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-006B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZXA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385109620&sr=8-1&keywords=accell+DP+to+DVI
Notice the Gold "Eyefinity" emblem. That indicates it is AMD certified. Somewhere on AMD's site there is a list of adaptors, but I found this brand was most reliable to most people, the cheaper ones had more issues.

Yes i have one of these active adaptors, its the DVI to DP screen. The other 2 screens are plugged directly (Dp to DP and DVI to DVI). My Graphics card has 2 Dp ports, 1 HDMI port and 1 DVI port.

The issue is that once my computer is booted (past windows) all 3 screens work perfectly fine, but when booting with screens plugged in, it does not boot past bios, the computer just restarts and tries to boot again. So each time I shut down I have to unplug the screens, let the system boot and then plug them in.

I'll have to say that is very odd! Any chance you have three prong to 2 prong adapters on the monitors. ( I am reaching here - possible ground loop or low residual voltage getting into the ground portion of the connector ) Have you double checked the 6 pin power plugs on the end of the card. Try switching them. Possibly a leaking capacitor in your PS. You may want to contact the card manufacturer. Perhaps they know of a small number of cards with this weird problem.

Thank you for your help, I actually thunk it might be the adaptor, since mine isnt ATI certified and might not even be an active adpator, will need to look into that next week (I will be AFK for 3 days now). But the thing is that my computer wont boot even if I have just the other 2 plugged in (so without the one with active adaptor), which is odd. Could this really be an issue with just the adaptor? I will also test the grounding adn power connectors and I'll get back to you next weeek. Thank you for your assistance and time : ). need to go to work now, so ill get back to you next week. Much thanks

Hey there. Haven't heard from you in a few days so....
I have been doing some research....So I was wondering, could it be an issue with the GPU Bios?

Should I flash the GPU bios to a newer version if that is available?

Regards

Hey there. Just wanted to update you...
I treid switching power cables (6pin) and no change, also double checked and have no 2-3 prong issues. So I am at a loss here. I have tried all your suggestions and nothing...please advise if yo u can. I have also been asking if this could be an issue with the GPU BIOS?

Regards
