Hey guys,

This is my first time building a pc, so I'm going to need a ton of help knowing which parts are compatible with each other and what parts I need that I may be missing out such as wires, fans and cooling systems. My budget is at $6000. Feel free to take out or add whatever you like. Whatever you think will help me build the ultimate gaming machine! So far this is the list I have down:

Corsair Obsidian Series 900D CC-9011022-WW Black Aluminum ATX Super Tower Computer Case

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-4960X Ivy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (Turbo 4GHz) LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor BX80633i74960X

EVGA 03G-P4-2883-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card

CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W power supply

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD512BW 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model CMZ64GX3M8A1600C9

LG Black Blu-ray Burner SATA WH16NS40 - OEM

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Champion

Windows OS

Then I was thinking this..but I don't know much at all about cooling systems. Thermaltake CLW0217 Water 2.0 Extreme/All-In-One Liquid Cooling System

So far with all those parts/software I'm at $4,526.88

Thanks for the help!

You really don't need an extreme edition CPU.... Or such an enormous case with an AIO water cooling unit. That 900D is built for custom water cooling loops, hence the size and bulk of that monster. Here is a counter-build -

This monster of a system will just go through games like a hot knife through butter.

More like a hot knife through air. Who are these people :(

I would not spend quite so much on a computer, for $2,000 you can get a high-end system that will play anything, maybe another $3-500 for some high end accessories like speakers/headset/sound card.

Remember, you buy this, but in 3 years you loose at least 50% of the value and speed compared to new stuff. Would you rather take a $2,000 + hit or under a $1,000 one?

I always suggest to go a step or two bellow the top models in anything, and then maybe put some extra towards a better monitor or accessories or just bank the money.

Some $2,000 systems that will play any game on high at good settings: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1861816/bestconfigs-poll-high-end-intel-gaming.html

Since you are looking at water cooling, you can just get an unlocked i5 CPU with a good quality video card and ramp up the speeds a bit. An i7 is a great CPU, but they have limited scenarios on which it's better than a good i5.

It will also be more fun tweaking things and seeing how the system runs at different clock speeds than just tossing money at the hardware to get the top end.
