My ram suddenly decreased from 4GB to 2.73GB

Something very odd happened to my systen yesterday. My ram unexpectedly decreased from 4GB to 2.73GB (Usable).
Please let me know ASAP as my games and laptop are running extremely slowly.

BTW; I dont have two memeory sticks i just have one.

I have a i5 -2450M cpu
Graphics Card: Amd/Ati 7670M 2GB
Ram:4gb (2.73 usable)
Further ram details:Kingston DDR3-1600MHz 4GB
