Are my cpu cores at a safe tempature?

Hello I recently overclocked my 3770k to 4.2. I'm not using that great of aftermarket cooler (Intel RTS2011LC ) so I was concerned. According to core temp my idle temps are 20c,17c,10c, and 22c.The max has been 55c on all cores. Is that to high?

If your only hitting 55c running prime 95 or something similar, I would OC some more. If its gaming I probably would still bump it maybe 200 mhz.


As long as prime doesn't get above 85C or so when left on for long stretches of time then your temps are fine (unless you are someone who leaves renders running in the background for 5 hours often times). The max of that processor is 100c, I'd stay away from that, but if you set your temp using prime95, you still have plenty of OC headroom.
