windows 8 activation

so i borrowed my friend's windows 8 disc and installed it on my pc and its all working fine, but i keep getting a watermark in the bottom right of my desktop thats saying to activate windows and when i try it wont activate and gives me an error, will this not being activated prevent me from using it after a while?

Yeah it is expensive.. that's why they frown on people trying to use it without paying for it.

So you didn't buy it? You thought it would just...work?

No.
Buy a legal key and then come back if you still have activation issues.
And don't buy it from eBay.

If you are currently a student and can be verified as such, then that would probably work.

Depending on exactly what it is, it is either the full ISO file, in which case you can burn it to a DVD for later.

Or it pulls the files as it is installing. In which case it gives you the option of burning to DVD early in the process.

Do that and save the disk. You will eventually need it.

Any of the normal places. Microsoft, Amazon, Newegg, TigerDirect.

But it is in your best interests to get at least the download, if not the actual disk. I have a feeling you will be needing one in the near future.

well i would buy the full disc, because i feel like thats just the safest way to go, in terms of for the future in case of any problems, but i only have 30 days to come up with 200$ and go to best buy to buy a disc. but why do you say ill be needing one in the near future?
