Hi all ! I want to build my first ever gaming desktop ;I have a flexible budget but obviously cheaper the better but I don't want to compromise too much on quality. Any help is much appreciated.

Approximate Purchase Date: This weekend (unless there is something towards end of Dec worth waiting for)

Budget Range: $1000 (can go over if really necessary)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, watching movies, surfing.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Not Sure ; if in budget ; may buy win 7 ultimate

Parts Preferences: GPU GTX 780 or R9 290 (unless there are better GPU's within my budget)

Overclocking: Probably.

SLI or Crossfire: No but potentially in the future.

Additional requirements: I play a wide range of games and would like to play comfortable at 1080 at least with high-ultra settings and high fps if possible. For this reason i would like a very good GPU which will still perform at high-ultra settings until at least the end of 2014.

Thanks

Agreed they are about the best, but by the time you look at a CPU, mobo, DRAM, drive(s), case, OS, etc the rest may well be bottlenecking the GPU...maybe like a AMD 6300 ($120), Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ($90), GSkill 2x4 1600/9 F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL DRAM ($75), WD HD 1TB WD10EZEX ($55), and that leaves about $60 for a case - maybe a HAF 912 nmidtower ($50)
