I'm going to have an ASRock Z87 Extreme4 MOBO which has two 4 pin fan connectors. One says it's for the CPU and the other says it's for the chassis. What I want to do is connect two 4 pin CPU fans (push/pull on Hyper 212 EVO) so that the MOBO will automatically adjust those speeds and just use a 5 fan controller for my case fans. From what I've read so far there shouldn't be any problem with doing this, but I just want to make sure. Would the MOBO still control the speeds of both fans or am I completely mistaken on how this works?

Another question is about my case fans. I'm going to have six total. Two front, one side intake and two top, one rear exhaust. Thinking about having all but my rear exhaust connected to the fan controller since there's only five slots. Would there be any problem in having that one fan run at full speeds all the time other than the noise?

You can do this with headers, but better if you use a splitter and run both fans of the cpu header so they run the same rpm rate.

Setting up the case fans as you describe is ok, I would run the intake fans at low rpm unless heat is an issue.

Ah, I didn't realize that was an option. Better solution than I would have hoped for since, like you said, the RPMs would be at the same rate. Thanks!
