Hi everyone,

I have had this laptop for some years now, however after initially thinking that Acer's speakers were particularly crap, I realised that the speakers are actually not working correctly.

The main symptoms are thus: Only the subwoofer on the base of the laptop emit sound when playing music, videos etc. The front panel speakers do not emit any sound. If they do it must be very very quite.

Here is the twist... When I carry out the sound tests in the configure speaker/realtek properties tabs, sound does emit clearly from the front panel.

I have installed the latest drivers from Acers website (6.0.6000.16386) with regard to the laptop model. I have also checked the default settings, the output is set correctly.

I initially thought this was a hardware problem but because the speakers work during the sound tests it must be another reason.

I am running Windows Vista (32-bit).

I have don't quite a lot of googling to find a similar problem with no luck. Has anybody experienced this before? I am getting tired of having to tilt my laptop and listen to really bad bassy sound.

Thanks

Martin
