Hey guys,

Here's a budget intel-based gaming computer build, which is pretty much the same as a couple of the builds shown on the BestConfigs Poll.

Here's the parts list:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/26FaE

And here's some info for you guys:

Approximate Purchase Date: Within this month.

Budget Range: Around $1100 Canadian after tax, shipping, etc.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (mostly FPS games like BF4), work (multiple excel files), watching movies.

Other Info: I would like a system that is upgradable later on.
I prefer an intel-based PC.
I need a wireless adapter.
I live in Canada.

So are there any components that can be replaced by cheaper components without sacrificing performance?
Any other comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your advice. What if I don't plan on overclocking? What would you change in this build in that case?

What Novuake said is spot on. You can get the 550W version of the same PSU for $50 which is a steal.
The issue with cheaper Z87 motherboards is that you aren't really able to use any of the features for which someone buys a Z87 motherboard (overclocking and SLI/Xfire).

If you aren't planning on overclocking, then ditch the 4670K and usually you would downgrade the motherboard to a H87 or B85. At a glance though, there's not a lot of money to be saved on the motherboard so the Z87 Pro isn't a bad deal. As for the processor, the whole appeal of a "K series" is overclocking, otherwise they are all very similar, bar minor differences in clock speed . The 4570 is $40 cheaper and is probably the best value for money if you don't want to overclock.

Do not waste your money on SSD. 7200 rpm Barracuda is more then enough.
i'd put your money in a gaming focaused productive part the GPU.( you don't need to upgrade it sooner)
you can increase storage in future after spending few dollars but you can't increase your card with that.

SSDs are not wastes of money - I won't build a system without one. You can get a Samsung 840 Evo for less than $100. But on a build less than $1100 I agree that I would rather put that money back in the hardware and get one later.

I just looked into a few things and I'm quite interested in this updated build.
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/26O8s

Do you guys think that the XFX 550W PSU can handle this build?
How does this build work overall? You guys think this build will play the latest games and possibly the next gen games (I'm really into mostly FPS games)?

And just in case you guys were wondering, there's a bundle deal for the CPU and the mobo at NCIX. Hence the price change.
Lastly, I want to go with an SSD for faster loading time.

Is there anything you guys would change with this build to make it better?

it will XFX PSUs are very fine products like Corsair and seasonic .but your again compromising on GPU power and speed.
Why your selecting less efficient weak card rather then a GTX-770?
you want gaming right ? then don't .and MSI Z87 board is also a fine one. but not better and reliable then extreme 4 of ASRock. and its cheaper
SSD:- 7200 rpm loading time is 30 second for example then SSD loading time is 10 seconds. but loading time dose not effect your gaming in good way 5-6% hardly then a 7200 rpm drive.
So, buy SSD later.

Thanks for selecting the best answer.

Totally agree.(Waste means in this regard of fine gaming rig in 1100 dollars)
I'm actually using only SSD(2x 1TB) in my system.
but he want a gaming system.if i put money in SSD that probably ruin his gaming experience.

See, that's why you're the expert and I'm a noob. lol
Thanks again for a thorough reply!
I will aim for the original build and leave the SSD for a later date.

Well yeah it all depends on the budget. Like if it's less than $1100 I would put that back into getting a better video card. But if it's $1250 or more then I would include one regardless.
