Extra GPU bottleneck system?

I want to use my old 6950 for bitcoin/litecoin mining and the new 280X for normal use (not in crossfire mode), but I'm wondering whether my PCIe2.0 motherboard will bottleneck them?

My new system:

Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 (PCIe 2.0) CrossFire
AMD R9 280X
AMD 6950 2GB

Also, it is fairly common to be able to unlock a 6950 to a 6970, and not just to the clock speeds either. This is one of those rare cards from AMD that has the stream processors soft-locked. Might be worth it if you're looking for a little extra processing oomph for your mining. ;)

Short time after purchasing it I checked and apparently it's one of those that cannot be unlocked :(
