Hello, Tomshardware,
I live in the second floor of the 3 floors apartment. And we share the internet with our land lord which lives down stair. The internet modem and router are placed in his room. I try to switch to Powerline instead of wireless since the wireless signal from the router which places on the first floor is too weak.
I wonder if Powerline network would work if the first floor and second floor apartment use different electric wiring system. I know this because last time we have some issue with the electric turning off, so there was no power in our second floor apartment at all. But first and third floor electric power was still on.
And if it would work. How do I choose what Powerline kits to buy? Does it need to be the same brand as the modem?
BTW I just need to make one connection since I only need my desktop to be connected to the internet.
