ASUS-P8H77-V vs Gigabyte-H77-D3H

Solution

You know I'm a ASRock fanboy? I've never owned an ASUS and am using a GIGABYTE to write this. I'd buy an ASUS since it seems more reliable than the unreviewed GIGABYTE.

although just choose the color you want :p

Good to hear. I'm currently studying electronics and I see many big companies taking shortcuts by fooling their customers, I do my best to spread this knowledge.

I could imagine they do.
After checking newegg there reviewed basically the same so the OP just needs to choose black VS blue LOL.
I personally buy whatever is the cheapest (that also has the right functionality) and is known to last.

Yes I saw a couple of videos about VRM that shows how AsRock fools it's customers. I saw this one too.
BTW I didn't know that even MSI has it's own fanboys! I got disappointed in MSI when I saw this funny video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvNnv7nh2Es
Is it the way that MSI tries to make it's own customers?!!

These two boards are the bests of ASUS and Gigabyte for H77
I'm good with gigabyte but this gigabyte mobo is weaker than Asus in VRM and does not have any heatsinks on them too.
What do you think and which would you go for?

Well it's quite simple.

ASUS/ASRock/MSI power "cleanness" = False x phases
Gigabyte power "cleanness" = True x phases

This is due to the PWM (Pulse Width Module) chip which is really expensive, it can only output x phases. ASUS, ASRock and MSI save money by buying a low phase oputput numer PWM chip, but they then split the phases. So a 4 phase PWM is split to a 8 phase, but this halves the power "cleanness".

So in terms of overclocking, your CPU will live longer, generate less heat and be more stable when overclocked with a Gigabyte motherboard.

But for you it comes down to Amperage delivery by the VRMs. I need you to find those VRM configurations and VRM specifications for both boards in order to provide an answer that is 100% correct mathematically.

I doubt you'll need the extra amps the ASUS can deliver, but to be sure I need the specs. I tried searching but couldn't find much.

That's just ..... wrong. Sadly ASRock's adverts are the same now :( I miss the original guy.
2008: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmbdT5LPGTU
2013: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLjdRVnqFQg

I never really got the phases thing. I just look at the max rated CPU power :p

Yes, There is a competition between msi and asrock on that sort of ads. This ads makes me think that these mobos overheat during operation:LOL
But I think asrock is much better than msi in mobos.
BTW what do you mean by "max rated CPU power" and how do you find that?

Wattage means nothing, it's just the amount of amps at 1,1-1,5V, but the cleanness, or the pulse, of the amps do.

I will when I have the time. Don't they work fine at stock speeds even with unclean power?
I did get a 700MHz overclock and a 2nd core unlock on an ASRock N68-VS3 FX which from what I've heard is awful on the phases?

Yeah, but when it comes down to the small details, Gigabyte does end up 1st on build quality.

The things is, ASUS, ASRock and MSI uses 4 phase and splits it to 8. They do this because it's cheaper, and the essence of it, they can call it 8 phase.

Now, the only difference we're talking about here, is the quality of the amps given to the system. However, this isn't a minor thing, it affects component lifetime, performance and overclocking ability.

Heard of hertz in electricity? It affects the same things in is the same thing to a certain extent. ASUS, ASRock and MSI gives you 25Hz while claiming to give 50HZ, but Gigabyte gives 50 true Hertz. Though, this is NOT what we're dealing with in motherboards, nor is it adequate in a comparison of what we're dealing with in any other way.

So there is gigabyte in one side and asus, asrock, and msi on the other side. right?

You didn't mention to any advantages of Gigabyte-H77-D3H or short-comes of ASUS-P8H77-V
Is there any logical reason for your choose or you are just a gigabyte fanboy or that's the video you follow as a rule of thumb?!
I feel you don't even know which models i'm considering!

Just remember that CPU phase power is only one thing, My GIGABYTE motherboard is famous for it's bad BIOS and no UEFI and others get boot loops etc...
