I was just wondering If I could write my Gaming PC that I purchased in September off on my taxes if I use it for school. I am studying computer science and I use it to write all of my programs. It was over $1500 in total.

Even if I can't is there any other way I could write it off?

I'm not going to say no. Because I don't know the IRS tax code for write offs. I will say that from my own experience doing taxes, it's possible, but any write offs you can't prove are legitimate education expenses will subject you to an audit. You might be able to write off software if you purchase it through your university (ex. Adobe Student, Autodesk Student, etc) but you'd probably have a difficult time proving that the hardware you bought is for legitimate educational purposes. If you know anyone who's an accountant they might be of better assistance than we can provide here.

Upon looking up the actual IRS code it says that you can deduct as many expenses that equal up to 2% of your gross adjusted income...
