The old WD Black 3.5" HDD is WD1001FALS
and the new Blue is WD10EZEX will cost me about 10$ more
the main difference is the SATA 3 on the new blue and SATA 2 on the old Black
+ 64MB Cache on the blue vs 32 MB Cache on the black
They are both 2013 HDDs

My friend I think something fishy is going on with your local store, try to avoid that store if you can. The drives must be old so you are only getting 1 year warranty.

And WD EZEX is a lot better drive than the WD Black one. For your information Black drives are for enterprise level drives, and not many people use it for everyday use. So go with the other one for everyday use, you will not regret.

Or you can go with this one also, if you can, its a solid drive :

If they're both 2013 drives, why no warranty on the Black? Is it a refurb or used? Black is 7200rpm and Blue is 5400rpm which might offset the cache size differences.

How much more would it cost to get a new Black with the 5yr warranty?

Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 32 MB Cache, 7200 RPM SATA II WD1001FALS
WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache - WD10EZEX
The blue looks better
