Hi,

I'm using an alienware desktop and I've been experiencing some problems recently.

I had a minidump reader (not bluescreenview) and it told me that the blue screens came from a wrong driver or something like this, and not from the hardware.

Right now what happens is that when I play video games, the game crashes, depending on the game, i can play for about 10 to 20 minutes before it crashes. After several crashes, I get a blue screen. My computer is also a bit slower than before (i've reinstalled it 3 times in 2 weeks). I've checked the device manager (i'd like to add a picture but i don't know how) and i see two things with a yellow warning under "other devices" : "Serial ATA Controller" and "Unknown device". I found this dell forum http:// where other alienware computer owners seem to have the same problem but i didn't really understand what i had to do :(

I made sure all my drivers were ok, i even reinstalled windows because I thought i had installed wrong drivers...

I also have a linux partition that is still in one of my hard drives but i can't see it when i start my computer anymore since i reinstalled windows. I'd like to delete the linux partition too if possible because it is useless atm. I downloaded intel matrix storage console and it tells me that all the hard drives are OK, and that my system functions normally. I ran the windows memory diagnostic and my 2 ram sticks are ok (i'm supposed to have 3 but the third one is broken, i did some random things in the setup at computer start... i was like "nice, my ram is running at ~1033MHz while it's supposed to run at 1600, i'm gonna change that", but without this stick, everything is fine, just slower.). Oh, I also had some graphics card problems, but it's just that i had to replug it nice and tight.

Thanks a lot,

If you need any additional information about my desktop, just ask, i'll give it to you asap.

Billy

the missing sata drivers are part of the motherboard chipset drivers. if the per built pc is an intel pc go to intel web page download intel chipset update drivers. in the bios of the pc trurn on xmp profle to get your ram running right. also run hitman pro and malware scan to make sure your pc is clean.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer, I've done what you said except for the RAM but my game still crashes and then I still get the blue screen. I went on http://, found the missing driver, as you said, but even then I still have my problem. I got hitman pro but nothing was on my computer.

I also still have the two "other device" in the device manager : "Serial ATA" and "Other device" that both have a yellow warning. And Windows can't find any drivers available for them...

Thanks,

Billy
