Hi all,
I recently just built my first system. I was surprised to see everything working out of the box after installing Windows. I used an Asus Motherboard with a Radeon 7770 GPU and an AMD FX 6300 processor. Almost everything was working right.. unfortunately when playing a DirectX game I randomly get ATIKMPAG.SYS BSOD. One time I even got a dump_ataport.sys BSOD when gaming. OpenGL games seem to work fine. I also ran furmark burn-out test for 15 minutes without problems. Max GPU temperature is 75c. I even used the cpu burn-out test and it ran 65c maximum after 10 mintues. Should I get the GPU replaced? It seems like there is no issue with power supply, ram or motherboard. Also, GPU perfomance is like it's supposed to be.
Thanks.

I'm no expert but just to be sure, have you downloaded and installed all the latest drivers for all the components of your new rig? (mobo, GPU, OS etc..)
Like I say, I'm no expert but if you haven't done this it's a good place to start.

I installed latest video drivers, even previous versions. Also LAN and Audio drivers. Do I need chipset drivers? Everything seems to work perfectly when the GPU is taken out. So I guess the issue is the GPU or Motherboard (maybe bad pcie slot.)

Couldn't hurt (as long as you do it right and make sure you have a backup- a way to revert the bios update if something goes wrong).
Also make sure Windows is updated
