I acquired an old gateway gt5628 with a XFX Radeon 4890 1gb. it inst the original card but its way better than the original

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

it runs minecraft at around 30 fps and kerbal space program at 25 fps, and runs hot because the stock cooler was replaced by a case fan on top of the shell of the card. I'm not looking to play any demanding graphics games, so i was looking at what the equivalent to the card i have now is. I know about the cards out today, so i just need a rough estimate.

These are the computer specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 ghz
Intel g33 schroeder town motherboard
2 gb ram
500gb hdd

Any estimates would be great

It's quite hard to say as Graphics Cards have changed a lot since 2008 so the 4890 would have felt like a powerful card back then, the equivalent would be like a 290 but that is way to powerful now

Based on benchmarks HERE the 4890 is a little bit slower than the Radeon HD 6770 and Radeon HD 7750 from AMD wise, that's the closest I can find

Use the Ctrl+F feature to open the 'Find' bar and then search the '4890'

thanks for the quick response. do you think if i got a low/mid range card with 1 gb it would perform better? i would think yes but i just want a second opinion. and would you think there would be a cpu bottleneck on the card? because this was a pre-built computer the motherboard doesnt allow overclocking so i'm stuck at 2.4 ghz.

I would recommend the GTX 660 or GTX 650Ti on Nvidia's part or the AMD 7770 or AMD 7850 on AMD's part

(Graphics Card names are click-able)

The CPU shouldn't bottleneck that much, You shouldn't really expect a lot of lower frames because of your CPU although it would be better to upgrade at some point in the future because it will lower your frames a tad bit but I can't be certain how much

You also need to get at least 4GB ram or 8GB ram as 2GB right now is way to low, the minimum is 4GB nowadays

Good Luck! :p
