Laptop starts to get massive fps drops after 30mins+

as title states after about 30 minutes my laptop starts to get massive fps drops on all games i play. the odd thing is that these fps drops or slowdowns only occur in games and when alt+tabbing out of the game the rest of my laptop is running fine fast as usual. I've tried tampering with my battery settings/drivers but nothing works

Specs:
OS:windows 8
CPU:intel core i7-3630QM
GC:Nvidia geforce GTX 675M
RAM:12gb

any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Looks like you are getting some heat issues after some long game play, grab yourself a laptop cooler to place under the laptop , they are quite affordable and you can pick one up at an electronics store or ebay. This will feed some cool air to the laptop and lower the temps to give you better fps after long periods of gaming.

i think i mightve figured out the root of the problem i changed it so when my laptops brightness would dim when unplugged sure enough when the lag spikes occured the brightness of the screen dimmed meaning that the charger is disconnecting itself randomly for no reason. this only happens when gaming and at no other times so does anyone know a reason for this/fix?
