So recently my 6970 has died on me, so I am faced with the challenge of picking a new graphics card. I've done a bit of research, and right now I am looking at an EVGA GTX 760. I was looking to spend about $250 dollars, but I feel that I never actually stay under my budget anyway :na: .

So my real question is should I go with the 760 or is there any other card that someone would recommend to me? Right now, I am looking at the 4gb one since I eventually want to upgrade to a higher resolution monitor. I also saw some article that they were dropping the price of the 770 down to like 330 so I wasn't sure if I should wait for that or not (or if the article I saw was legit or not :|). Anyways, any input would help and I really appreciate it! Thanks!

Also my system is roughly this (i don't really feel like turning it on since it only works on the integrated graphics at like 800x600 resolution, but if there is some compatability issue with specific models or something I can always look the exact up :))

i5 2550 water cooled
gigabyte motherboard
8gb ram (crucial ballistix)
samsung 840 pro SSD (boot drive)
some 1.5 TB HDD
PSU somewhere around 500-700 watts (if its below 600 i'm probably gonna get a new one for thi
s card)
broken XFX radeon HD 6970

Thanks for the help! :)

Well if you are having a single monitor setup, there is no point of going for more than 3GB of gpu vram. 3GB are even enough for 2560x1440p gaming. In terms of gpu's, you could try Sapphire's 280X Toxic. Top choice!

Any chance it is still under warranty?

And if you bought it from Newegg, you can print out a copy of the invoice anytime after you buy it.

Even if you want the upgrade to a new card, you can eBay the card you get back from XFX

Sadly it is not underwarranty anymore, im the 3rd user of the xfx card and thr warranty only transfers to rhe sexond. Plus its about 3-4 years old.

So with your suggestions, im now looking at the asus r9 280x. Ive always thought of asus as one of the higher quality brands (correct me if im weong), so I think this would probably be the best card for me?

Seeing as most of my graphics intense gaming right now is battlefield 4 and things like bioshock, im guessing that this would be a good card for me and in my budget.

Thanks for the advice! And if anyone has any more please let me know :)
