My northbridge heatsink on my ASUS M5A97 R2.0 one of the pins on the right side was off the motherboard, but not entirely. I couldn't even stick my finger under it. So I popped it back on without applying thermal paste or anything. The otherside was still in, but the right clip was slightly off. Should I be worried? I'm using the computer as I type.

Actually it was the VRM heatsink http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873

Solution
I would be a bit worries if BOTH sides are not clipped in.

If you have to remove it, then putting some new paste after cleaning the old stuff is recommended for sure.

Personally, I would even do it if the pins came loose too(but it may not be 100% required).

Well it was the VRM heatsink, one of the plastic pins was slightly out. If their was a problem what would those be? BSOD or what exactly? I've been playing things just fine.
To be entirely honest, I'm not sure if it was VRM or the Northbridge. But it was the blue long heatsink in the picture on newegg.

The blue heatsink beside the cpu socket is the vrm cooler. They tend to use thermal pads(or a single large pad). Just push that pin back in and keep an eye on it.

heatsinks with thermal pads should NOT have the pads replaces with thermal paste as it is not thick enough.

Problems could be blue screens upto board failure(rare, but too much heat can damage the vrm mosfets for sure) and everything in between.
