A certain type of cpu?

Solution
Yes, you will need a FCPGA988 CPU.
Secondly, you'll need to check if the BIOS will support the upgrade.....
Starting from an i5-3210M to an i7-2630QM you can choose the path to upgrade to.
Now your's is an Ivy Bridge CPU and you can try a Sandy Bridge upgrade, but, mainly depends on the BIOS.
Someone else here did it with an Asus and had no problems at all.....
