I am a freelancer for graphics and visual effects, I use 3ds Max mainly, and plugins like Vray and Fumefx (requires tons of ram).
I have a 3570k with 32gb ram currently and I need a cpu with the capability for 64gb, so I am going towards either socket 2011 or amd's opteron series ... Both will fit under my budget ...
Xeon's or the i7 4930k are out of my budget.
& yes my software utilizes many cores .. just don't know which will end up being faster ... if anybody has any insight here that would be great
plus the benefits the i7 brings over the opteron (not speed wise) or vise versa
