I have an amd fx 8320 8 core processor and a gtx 670 overclocked edition...

If i add an old gt 640 will my cpu burn out with no cpu cooler?

If anyone would answer that would be great!
Thanks!

Can you clear the Question ?

If you asking is you CPU gonna BURN out with you old GT-640 - NO
Is you asking is you CPU gonna BURN out if you REMOVE the CPU FAN - YES it definitely WILL SMOKE YOU OUT .....

First off, I hope you are not saying you are running your cpu with NO cooler. I have to assume you mean that your cpu is using the stock cooler that came with it, not an aftermarket cooler used for better cooling. That said, your cpu does not care if you use one video card or multiple video cards. The cpu has its job and the graphics cards have theirs. What you would need to check out is "Do you havea large enough PSU (both in terms of power ratig as well as individual rail current ratings) sufficient to power everything. Next question would be "Why are you wanting to add the gt 640?"

OK that`s more clear :)

I have never seen CPU to fail with the FAN that it`s sold - if you mess something fitting yes but other case no.
Using stock FAN will make you system HOTTER and more noisy - the stock FANS make more RPM and they end up with high temp after all ..... compared with OEM`s aftermarket coolers.

So to answer you must NOT kill you CPU by using the stock cooler but i doubt you will like hot and noisy system

My advise : look for big low noise aftermarket cooler
f.e. Arctic Cooler A30 in you case :

Edited :
NOP - you can`t SLI both 640 and 670 - as the next post stated !
But you can use them both !

you cannot SLI two different series/types video cards, however, you should be able to assign the gt 640 with the nvidia physix duties, which should free up your main GPU (GTX 670) from having to do everything. You might see a slight/moderate improvement.
