ok so i bought all the parts to start a comupter for my brother, i have all the required hardware, and it starts up, it just turns off after about 5 seconds. all the parts are brand new besides the graphics card (which works fine in the computer im taking it from. all the fans spin for the short duration it does turn on and the power unit i have bought i do believe is more than powerful enough, yet when it is turned on you cannot even see anything load on the computer screen before it turns off every time. when we looked at the socket for the cpu one of the pins does appear to be bent, could this be the issue? i read that even a bent pin doesnt matter because it only rests on it

The parts used are:
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10600 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit
Intel Celeron Dual-Core G540 2.5 GHz Processor with Socket 1155, L3 2Mb, Sandy Bridge, 32nm
Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU
Gigabyte SKT-1155 H61M-S2PV Motherboard

is it possible the RAM is incompatible or something simple like that? thank you in advance for any help :)

Yes the board can do this if it fails to detect a cpu properly due to a bent pin in the socket.

But sometimes the problem can be related to a power issue.

Check the four or eight pin from the Psu is plugged into the board, the block on the board is located near the cpu socket.

This would cause a first short post but no screen out put and then a shut down of the system.

Check the 24pin ATX block is seated right to the board.
And any extra power connectors from the psu are connected to the graphics card if you are using a Pci-e slot type.

Get the brand name of the board, and model number.
Head off to the makers website and check the cpu is supported by the board and the bios revision is high enough to support the cpu.

Good luck.

i will contact the provider of the product about the bent pin, but before i do i will keep trying, both the 4 pin and the 24 pin was both plugged in correctly, as far as i know the gpu doesnt need anything plugged in from the psu as i dont need to when i use it for my current computer, unless a pci-e slot is motherboard related (i dont know what that is)

i will also check the website, thank you for the advice!

is there any easy way to help focus on the specific thing causing the issue? like starting the computer with no RAM or no GPU plugged in, would that work/help?
