is there anything I should make sure is off or on so i get 100% of my cpu/gpu performance?

I have changed my power use to "performance" but anything else?

My system has a FX 8350 and a 280x (7970).

say something that throttles my cpu that I should know of in W8.1?

You could change the display setting, ton increase performance slightly,

Right click computer, properties, advanced system settings, performance settings, and adjust for best performance then just tweak to your liking.

So should I use the Asus disk that came with my monitor or anything or ? I mean I'm all ready running @ 144hz no issues.


Also, why doesn't my "name" change off of the "start" screen, during set up I use my name (frist last) but later i went to the site and change it to more of a handle then my name. I read that once I shut down and bootup/log in it will change, but still @ the start screen my name (first and last) is there and not the handle I picked on the live website.
