A better question would be what graphics settings are you currently using? I would expect the 280X to be at 30-45 FPS if you're running it on ultra with everything maxed.

everything maxed out beside msaa off. i just dont understand, my setup should destroy the game 50+ fps all the time at my rez and the card is crazy fast. this is one of amds top cards.

On a benchmark system running at 1920x1200 the R9 280X maxed at 45 FPS. You really aren't running at that much lower of a resolution, and you aren't running the game on a benchmark system, just a normal system that has things like background programs running. Switch everything to high, and see what your framerates are at.

Well that's good, now we know that you aren't reaching the limitations of your card, it's a different problem. What are your temperatures at idle and load?

Have you updated your chipset drivers?

i feel cpu might be the problem. is it overclocked or not and also what are the cpu temps?? are the games utilizing your cpu cores. i think fx 8350 has 8 cores, look into task manager while running games and if everything seems fine then download latest drivers for gpu. that might help your problems.

You still need to install drivers, if you don't you can lose a lot of performance. Go to the motherboard's website and download all the drivers for your board.

everything is up to date and i think i found the problem... its the drivers because in some bf4 maps i caa play 60+ maxed out all the time doesnt matter what.. ( a good part of the maps) and some maps it doesnt matter if i play low, lower resolution. still the same fps so i blame the beta drivers...

How much RAM to you have installed and how much is being used when you run the game? What OS are you running?

Do you have the ability to swap out the GPU for a different one? Whether it is a superior or inferior card doesn't matter, we're just looking for some change.

My suspicion is that either AMD or DICE need to release a patch for their respective products that optimizes performance for your system configuration. This happens a lot with new releases as it is difficult to take into account all the varying configurations out there.

You should be able to roll the drivers back to the current WHQL drivers. Have you tried that to see if it makes a difference? You'd have to do a clean install or make sure you totally uninstall the beta drivers first.

The last windows certified driver. You shouldn't be running beta drivers if you can avoid it.

Well, I've looked at AMD's driver download page and all they seem to have are beta drivers for your card. I am more in tune with nVidia than AMD, but it looks like your card is pretty new, released a little over a month ago. Frankly, I am surprised AMD only offers beta drivers for their new flagship GPUs.

At any rate, it looks like you will have to wait for AMD to release a new driver package. Unfortunately, that is sometimes how it is with new hardware.

BTW: WHQL stands for Windows Hardware Quality Labs and it is a testing procedure beta software gets put through for quality assurance before it gets released to the public.

Windows 7 or 8? I had to update to 8 for better bf4 performance (8 has directx 11.1 exclusive performance upgrade).
