About two days ago, my desktop began to shut down at random times, never under load. Sometimes it would run for a 1/2-hour and then shut down and then restart. Other times, it wouldn't even make it to BIOS and then it would restart. So, I blew all of the dust out of the system. After this, it only ran for a few seconds and would turn off and restart. I let this happen about ten times. Then I took the fan off of the CPU and put new thermal paste on. Put it back together but, again, it just would run for about 4 seconds, not even making it through BIOS, and restart over and over. Lastly, I put a new PSU in it, put it back together and the same thing was happening -- just would run for a few seconds, shut down and then restart. Each time it shut down, it would turn off for about 5 seconds before rebooting. Fans and everything would stop.

The fact that it is not making it even through the start of running BIOS makes me think that it's a hardware problem. It can't be a heating issue because it doesn't run long enough to heat up. Not a PSU problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks

I have been running Bitdefender Total Security and performing regular scans. It doesn't seem likely to me that something like this would have sneaked by.
