I am using the Asus p8z77 V LX Motherboard. is it really all you need for gaming/editing/overclocking?? I bought this because of the price mostly and did not really put alot of thought inot it it for my first build, it was on sale for like 100 bucks so i got it. But I am thinking I should have waited a bit and saved u for something better. I am told you can get decent overclocks with this board since it is a z77 chipset. the second PCI-E is 2.0@x4 mode so there is that. So I want to beef up my PC or save up and make a new build for next year. Don't know whether to get another z77 chipset or go with haswell. So let me know if you would upgrade if you had this mohterboard. I would probably go with asus either way.

It is a budget board. You can overclock your CPU a little don't try too hard because it have 6 phase VRM. The more expensive boards have 10 or 12 VRM on those you can achieve higher and stable overclock.
For gaming , editing and little overclock is a good buy.

I'd go and upgrade to something like a Asus Z87-PRO if you are going to upgrade. But whether it's worth it depends on your budget, requirements, and the specs of your PC at the moment! The MOBO you have at the moment is alright, but for intense gaming and overclocking, go with the Asus Z87-PRO and an Intel Core i5 4670K B-)

So with the z87 platforms i know they moved the VRM onto the CPU so would that mean you could basically acheiethe same overclocks with most z87 motherboards? just curious..
