Simply, yes. There are many tools available on the web that can perform a deep scan of the HDD's. Your best bet would be to inflict physical damage to the drive i.e. a couple of drill holes or a
trusty mallet.
Thanks elmo2006
I sent my cpu in a comp repairing centre and i wonder if someone there changed my hard drive.but i couldn't see any changes in my drives.so what to do to confirm that i am safe.thank you very much.

You may want to check the Events Viewer or if you have the original receipt then you can physically compare the two.
You can also check the date and time stamps of the individual files/folders for a more recent date.

If they changed the drive, no doubt you would have gotten billed for it
You could check the HDD's model number, if you have an old computer and its a new model then that's pretty suspect. Checking the dates associated with files will tell you if they were copied over (old drive to suspected new drive in system, not if they were coped to another drive), if all of them have Date Modified/Created that could indicate something.

There is simply no way to tell. If the drive was cloned the files would retain their dates.
But why would you suspect that this is a possibility, and why are you worried about it? Let's face it, if someone wanted to copy your pictures they could have just cloned your drive without going to the trouble of changing it.
If you don't trust a repair company then don't send your computer to them. And if there's something illegal on your computer then it doesn't matter whether you trust the repair company or not; any company would report such material to the police (but I doubt they would return your computer to you).

But you still have a hard disk! You are supposing that someone stole your hard disk and replaced it with another one? Sounds unlikely, particularly as hard disks are so cheap anyway. What would they have to gain? And why would anyone be interested in your pictures? If you were a famous movie or pop star and your hard disk was full of nude photographs of yourself then I can understand it. But, otherwise, your suspicions seem a bit bizzare.
I think there are better things to worry about.

Thanks
But what about privacy?what about my personal pics.though i had deleted them but what if sb has stolen my hdd for money only.
You will never know if someone actually attempted to perform a recovery of your drive. Once the computer is in the hands of a third party you are at their mercy!
