Should it be a problem if some excess thermal paste went off of the cpu and onto the cpu mount?

So yesterday I noticed that my cpu was running at 42C. I switched out the stock fan with the Hyper 212 Evo.

After properly installing the fan as per the instructions manual, my computer didn't boot. I suspect that it may be because I put just a bit too much thermal paste, which has now leaked off to the sides. It's not very much; mostly it's just the sides of the cpu, but there is a very minute amount on the mount of the processor.

I went to the advice thread; nothing worked. I tried moving my ram, switching the SATA cables, and unplugging and plugging the motherboard, none of which worked. Also, I am 100% sure that I did not turn on the PC without a fan.

The computer turns on, but there is no output to the monitor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably not, but you should clean it off.

clean off the thermalpaste with rubbing alcohol 70% or more, with a microcloth, than apply a peasize of thermalpaste, reinstall the cooler, and voila ur good mang.
