I will be doing some video editing and gaming for youtube, but my question concerns video editing and rendering. Most likely i will be using a simple video editing program for my editing, and I want to know if the extra $100 for the i7 is worth it. I will be rendering about 1 video a day, what do you guys think? Money is not the issue, but this is the last part I have left to buy, and i could buy the i5 right now if i didnt need the i7. I currently have a very annoying MacBook Pro with a second gen i5 mobile processor that is slow as CRAP. Would the desktop 4th gen haswell i5 be a big improvement? Thanks!

You might as well go with the i7 4770k then. It will be good for years, and when it starts to run out of juice you can overclock it. The hyperthreading will help when rendering.
As above. The i5 is perfectly good (4670k) but if you have the extra money you can go for a 4770k that might last you 1-2 years longer. For your usage either will be fine, if you were using programs like After Effects the 4770k may have been necessary but as of right now you'll do fine with the 4670k. Up to you.

I am not sure, because it would clearly come down to video editing being faster. Also, I want the pc to be able to be used comfortably for the next 4 years, so that might play into it as well. I am not against upgrading the processor, but I think by that time my whole PC will need to be replaced. Also, I do NOT want to wait 45 min for a 20 minute video to render. What do you think?
