Hello tomshardware!
I've recently built a new PC which is an upgrade from my old Intel Celeron PC. The specs are:

GA-970A-DS3
Fx-6300 @3.5GHz
6GB RAM DDR3
MSI R9 270x Gaming 2g edition
Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200rpm
Corsair CXM 500WM

So I've put the PC together. Installed windows, took my files from my old HDD and moved them to the new one. But there must be always few problems, with everything.

So, firstly:

I get no sound. Neither from front Panel, Rear Panel. HD Audio, AC'97. Installed drivers, uninstalled drivers, Updated Drivers. Played with the Realtek Audio driver for some time, still nothing. Speakers are working properly as I plugged them to my phone for a small test.

Secondly:

I get very high RAM usage. I have 1x4GB and 1x2GB from the same manufacturer and same model. When idle, it's about 40-65% of usage. I tried resitting the ram, tried putting them in dual-channel (I think it is called dual-channel, the slots are the same color). Still the same. But that's not the only RAM problem I have. Windows shows that I have 6GB RAM, but only 4GB usable. Even canyourunit.com shows that I have 4GB. I am mostly running Norton, Easytune and Raptr in background..

Third problem:

I have no idea why, but the PC is slow as hell from times to times. Dunno if its the Fx6300 or the ram usage. I boot it, let it load properly, open a folder and it all lags, freezes. Same for Google chrome and pretty much everything, I get slow response sometimes.

Fourth and last problem:

I get bad fps. I tried playing Rage and Battlefield 3 in multiplayer. In battlefield 3 I get very strange issues, like the distance rendering is all blury, the textures are flashing and stuff, cant see people who are far away. In RAGE,its all good but I get big frame drops from time to time. I have no idea whats happening, I have the PCIe connected properly, and the newest Catalyst drivers.

Thank you

make sure your motherboard is flashed to the proper bios that supports fx 6300 it may be using a older bios which will hinder cpu performance

to use duel channel

you have to be in slots 1 and 3 in the ram slots

or 2,4 make sure you are not using 32 bit windows 7

as for the audio i can only suggest trying a pair of ear buds and seeing if that will work if not could be dodgy sound ports had similar issues try to see if they show up in device manager when plugged in

Hi
Wow .... a lot problems for new system :)

Ok
the firs thing that cross my mind is RAM maping
Why you got 4 + 2 GB ?
Why not 4 + 4 ?
In order to trigger Dual Channel you need Same Size and Speed in both channels in simple word 4 + 4 GB

About the sound
Dis you make you Speakers out as Default Sound and Comunnication device ?
f.e. if you make you Digital Output as Default you never gonna hear sound from Speakers - i think you`r usin Analog Speakers ?

About the Ram usage - i pointed at the start - i think you need 4 + 4 to have normal usage
I pass my system from 4 ; 6 ; 8 and not 16 GB ram
- Windows stop eating my RAM after i got 8 GB ....
- also continues TORRENT upload can EAT up to 50 % of you RAM - on my current 16 GB i`v seen 8GB eaten by the utorrent .....

About the FPS bad performance
- can you please run FURMARK for 30 -40 min and post an screenshot - i wanna see the stats you get ...
- also if you can start the Taskmanager -> Performance tab in the front of the Furmark test ( window mode ) - i wanna see you CPU load also

There was some info considering FX-XXXX bad FPS performance
- you can try to sett you game to LOW priority in the Task Manager
- OR disable 2 of you Cores - in the Motherboard BIOS or Windows -> msconfig -> Startup - > Advanced tab

I am afraid to flash a bios, but I've done it once on my previous Mobo without knowing why and what am i doing.
I got these RAM modules for free from a friend in the US, that's why i dont have 4+4. I might try to upgrade the 2gb in the future, after I buy coolers for my pc tower, and a 212 EVO to do some overclocking. My speakers are analog. They are listed as not plugged. My fps went to normal after few restarts I had to make for windows update. I still think of updating my bios though. Practically, first time doing it.
Here are some screenshots that might help:

had this issue before with speakers mine did this what i did was simple click speakers and right click and set as default see what happens also if this doesnt work fiddle with the high def audio,

also check your motherboard what revision it is usually found on a corner of the motherboard revision 1 etc before updating the bios

this finds the correct bios for your motherboard.

check your manual for how to flash the bios if you cant find it once you find your revision you can search for it on gigabyte

I'd do that, but simply my speakers and microphone are shown as non plugged. Sorry to say, but the link is broken :D and my mobo is rev 3.0.

I look at you pictures:
- can you move you RAM to Single channel
I expect that you mobo is playing with this memory size here
If you see all 6 GB then you can turn OFF you Paging - 4059 MB R/W over the slow HDD is not what you need here ......

About the sound - Win 7 will not enable the Analog Speakers untill you connect them .... connect them to the PC and then right click - Set as Default to that " Speakers"

About the Pessmark score ...... see mine signature :)
No comment .... :)

try upgrading the to the fc said it modifys your compatible memory

OK, I now have more questions (sorry for my lack of knowledge):
What is paging? How to turn it off? I thought 7200rp HDD is fast enough..
And dude you really though that Im trying to get sound from a pc while my speakers are not plugged? C'mon.. :p
You mostly have better score because of your high end CPU, thats understandable. :D

EDIT:

CPU-z says that I have 6gigs of ram in single channel

OK, I now have more questions (sorry for my lack of knowledge):

What is paging? How to turn it off?
- when you system lac of free RAM it`s start to use the HDD like RAM
I thought 7200rp HDD is fast enough..
- for transfering data maybe but compared with the other components HDD is the "- 10x" slower one .....

And dude you really though that Im trying to get sound from a pc while my speakers are not plugged? C'mon.. :p
- the you have something mess up
- you`r using the green jack i believe
- did you check othe sound settings - Realtek or something ?

You mostly have better score because of your high end CPU, thats understandable. :D
- this is not all that is making my score x 2 as you can see my GPU is very old and weak compared with you`rs :)
EDIT:

CPU-z says that I have 6gigs of ram in single channel
- this is because you have put the ram in the same coloured slots - those are channel A and B and the mobo try to run them in dual channel but it can NOT coz they are not the same size
That`s why i ask you to move one nex to the other one - side by side in one channel
Maybe this how you motherboard will use them correctly

put ram into blue slots this is channels 1,3 and the correct way to duel channel the ram

I did, didn't work, as Nokolay said.
I also checked System Information. It states that I have the FD version of Bios, should I step down to FC? Would that be safe?

keep fd are both rames same speed

Holy sh*t guys. I restarted my PC once again, and my RAM is now all available as 6.2 GB. CPU-z shows that I run it on Dual Channel. Can you run it shows that I have 6.2 GB. The ram is fully working now, thank you guys!
But I still have that "Speakers not plugged in issue". I'll keep googling it.

EDIT: I might just go with a sound card off ebay, do you guys that would do the job?

What did you change ?
Is the FPS are improved now ?
How much is you free ram now ?
You cant be seriose to go for OEM`s sound jus because you cant fix this - it must be a reason and it must not be so damn hard to make it work ....

if you like to give ya details about Paging and I can assist you
for fixing this sound - pm me we can arrange remote support :)

I got the mobo from the same friend in the US for free, that's why i don't rma it or something. I bought a sound card for 3GBP. Not much, aint it? I've got all the 6GB ram available right now, but windows AERO seems to be using 1.8GB :D
I haven't played anything since yesterday's miracle, i'll just edit this post after I test some battlefield 3 mutliplayer.
