Monitor gets no signal

I recently got me a new desktop pc and new monitor with it. I''ve connected them as usual, started up the pc and got this message on screen: "No Signal Detected".

The cable I got a with it is a 2-end VGA cable; nothing special I think.
On the monitor I chose the 'D-Sub' setting out of these three: D-Sub/HDMI/DVI.
I connected the cable from the D-Sub port on the monitor to the 'VGA OUT' port on the pc, since they are the only ports the cable will fit in.

The pc is a MP Elite Power i7 with Intel Core i7-4770 processor, 3TB harddrive, 128GB SSD and 8GB RAM. (Windows 7)
The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 DCII OC 2GB.
The monitor is a BenQ GL2460HM LCD monitor.

I have tried removing the power cord and holding the On button for like 30 seconds to a minute, then connecting it back and turning it on but no success.


Haven't been able to get it working right from the start so now I'm clueless and turn to you; any suggestions?
Help would be greatly appreciated and I hope the information I gave is sufficient.



Solution:
Since I only had a VGA cable, and only 1 VGA port which is the motherboard's, I'll have to go get either a HDMI- or a VDI-cable so I can connect the monitor to the GPU instead of the motherboard.

It has likely defaulted your graphics to the VGA port you are not trying to use since the base model of that computer doesn't seem to have a discrete card. If you are plugged into the motherboard try plugging into the GPU, if you are plugged into the GPU try plugging into the motherboard, it does not output to both ports simultaneously.

If you are plugged into the motherboard try plugging into the GPU, if you are plugged into the GPU try plugging into the motherboard, it does not output to both ports simultaneously.

I don't know, but I searched how to check and I have vertical video ports, so.. yes I think.


This is a BTO computer, so I don't think it is a base model.
But about your suggestion, the cable is plugged into the back of the case of the computer, I'm not sure how to connect it directly to the motherboard or GPU, if it's possible at all. I'm not that good with computers.

-edit: Now that I understand your suggestion better: no, unfortunately there is only one VGA port that I can use and see/know of. Are you sure there is another one?

Well just try to connect the hdmi cable (or what have you) of the monitor, to the display port that comes out of the motherboard's I/O panel at the back of the case. Then try to boot the pc up and see if you have visual connection.

VGA cable and oh, yes, I have done that more than once now. What you said there is what I ment by 'I''ve connected them as usual, started up the pc and got this message on screen: "No Signal Detected".' in my first post, and well it still doesn't work.
