Both of the above option would cost the same and I can't decide which one to go with. Should I go with the i5 with the stronger GPU or the 8 threads of the i7 would be a better choice for future games (like Watchdogs) even if paired with a weaker video card? Will the "next gen" games really demand the 8 threads?

Thanks in advance!

No one could possibly tell you how many threads X game in Y year will be able to utilize, although it's a safe assumption that you'll be safe with the i5.

For the last few generations, the i5 has always been the go-to CPU for gaming. i7 is more for rendering and 3d modeling, the like.

I'd say go with the i5 and the 770.

i second what enemy1g said. we dont know how hyperthreading will benefit us in the future, so the i5 would be the recommendation from me.
