Hi everyone, Getting my new build up and running but as is always the case with these things, there's always one or two snags that hold things up.
I have two internal SATA drives in this build: the old one from which the system boots and a brand new 1TB drive that does not show up in the BIOS, nor does it show when when I click the Computer folder in Windows 7. However, I do see it listed in the Device Manager in the Computer Management folder. I'm not sure why this happens, but wanted to run it by all of you to see what your ideas were. Here are my specific components:

MOBO: Asus M5A97 R2.0
Older Boot HDD: Seagate ST325031 8AS
HDD in question: Seagate ST1000DM 003

I did download updated drivers for the new HDD, but wondered that if I opened the zip and installed the drivers that it would change the original hard drive's drivers and not the new drive. Probably should try it, but I'll wait to hear back.

Thanks!

I tried disconnecting the boot drive to see if I could run the Windows 7 DVD and possibly use it to partition the new HDD. No luck. Still not visible on BIOS. Tried switching out cables and SATA ports too, but no change.

No, the only one that shows up is the original HDD and its three partitions. Now I can no longer see it in the Device Manager, but I definitely hear it spinning. Strange. Any ideas other than shipping it back?
