So i was gonna get a new rig but it seems its not gonna be next week :'(
So decided to OC my AMD CPU. So i downloaded AMD overdrive and i turned it on to OC. i turned it on 2mhz per try, so it goes up 2mhz each time.

After about an hour its done and it should go from 3.0 to 3.5(3495 to be precise)
It tells me if i press oke it will reboot, so i press ok and it reboots.
Back in windows my clock speed is still 3.0 when i check my computer properties, or when i check CPU-Z or even the amd overdrive program.

Last CPU clock is: 3495 MHz
Last HT Link ref. clock is: 233 MHz
Last CPU multiplier is: 15 X

I've never really OC'd so any help is welcome. my max multiplier is 15. And this is standard settings. Maybe my CPU just can't be overclocked? but why does Overdrive tells me it is not 3.5?

Thanks!

dump overdrive.......... you need to do this in the BIOS............. but overclocking that cpu will do next to nothing as far as "extra" performance. it WILL add more heat and put the cpu under more stress.

also, lower the multiplier on the cpu and try running the ram faster.

Don`t believe on Windows Properties - it miss calculate some time - based on you microcode in the BIOS and the actual speed you`r running you may see verry strange things there .....

YOu can trust CPU-Z , HWINFO tools - have an some time to google some OC forums to gain some info.
But if you realy want to OC you system you need OC motherboard and Unlocked CPU ( Black edition CPU ) to realy gain some OC performance.

Ahh i see, Well i've gone abit higher then stable.

While i'm still at this thread. What does OC really do? does it only help when your CPU bumps on to 100% usage at certain apps, or will it increase overall performance to?
