Hi all,

I was recently having some problems with blue screens IRQ LESS EQUAL something. I read that i should update my bios and so my adventure started...

I downloaded the asus bios update utility, used the latest rom from the site 2108 i believe. It said it had flashed it correctly but then the verify gave an error. I tryed several times but couldnt do it. I tried to go to EZ flash on the bott, so i restarted.

PC, never beeped, of displayed anything again. The fan starts and power is ok but nothing.
I've tried reseting the CMOS with the jumper 4 times now and nothing.
I followed the steps, unplug from power, unplug cable, remove battery, reset the jumper, wait several minutes, place jumper back, place battery, plug cable. Nothing.

Please, can anyone help, if i get nothing i'm afraid ill have to buy a whole new pc since my setup was too old and ill have to update several components if i change the motherboard.

Thanks in advance,
Miguel

Thanks for the idea. I tried this with 4 different PEN drives in all USB ports. I renamed the file to P5B.ROM and it's in FAT32. The pen is also less than 8GB as the manual asks.

I think the CrashFree is probably used when the BIOS is corrupted and i'm not sure that's my case. The board doesn't even POST anything to the screen, not even saying the BIOS is corrupted. Nothing..

I noticed in the asus site that from the version i had to the newer ones the rollback stop being supported, i'm wondering if it's anything related to that that went wrong...
Honestely can't think on how trying to update a bios with the official software and rom could kill their own motherboard... really..

I'm really lost, i think ill need to try and find a used board somewhere. Any other help?

And why doesnt the CMOS reset? I'm i doing something wrong?

From what i've been reading i would need to either buy a new bios chip (around 15€) and sold it where the old one is, or buy a new board...

I'm not comfortable in messing around the board electronically, so i'm buying a new one.

I'd like to state here for future reference, never try to update your bios with the official asus updater. Maybe i tried to jump from a very old version or something.. don't know. If in doubt don't buy asus crap anymore.
