this rig does not need to be able to play games, it used to play counterstriker source decently with an 8800gts 640mb

but that card just fried its video memory... and I need to get a replacement and cant afford a whole new rig till next summer.

was hoping the old cpu and geforce gt610 1gb could produce 1080p video and audio to my reciever via hdmi.

is this to hard for the old board/cpu? its nforce4 ultra chipset i believe, should I be concerned hooking a new card into the same slot that the 8800gts died in?

More about : geforce 610 1core amd athalon 4000 cpu good video

Hi
Just give it an try dude ....
Only thing i can advise you is this.
Conect the HDMI cable to the GPU Card after you make sure that you have connect both the PC and the Reciever on the same power strip ( 220V ) - you will avoid "flickering" and maybe killing the PC if you not ....

I have described why you must have all connected to one power strip - you may fail you PC or other device

I have sow too many failed GPU`s , Motherboard and Printers cause of this !

is it important that the subwoofer is also on the same strip? as the reciever and pc? this kinda sucks, does this mean, all devices attached to my reciever via hdmi need to be powered from the same strip?
