My MSI Z87m-G43 Motherboard requires a BIOS update because it has some issues with RAM compatibility.
According to their instructions. I have to make sure the USB drive is bootable. After an hour of fruitless searching, I still had no results. So, can anyone clear this up for me?

I have that same MB and I used this tool which I found on the MSI User to User Forum: http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0

It is very simple and practically foolproof. Highly recommended!

The problem I have right now is that the the motherboard has some RAM issues so it wouldn't POST. So I borrowed a friend's RAM and plan on loading the BIOS on to a flash drive and flashing the BIOS from there

Good! The method that I linked to is based on flashing from a USB flash drive.

So, I can put the BIOS file on the USB from my laptop, then plug the USB into the desktop, and flash the BIOS like that?

Prolly not. That link is for how to update a Z-87. I could be wrong, but I believe that you will need a Z-97 mobo.

Update:

What I meant was that you will need a Z97 Mobo and not a Z87 Mobo. The Tool will work on either Mobo. You just need to be sure that your Mobo is compatible with your CPU.

Sorry for the confusion.
