What should I invest in first for better performance, CPU or GPU?

So here's my specs:

CPU : AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor (4 CPUs)
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1GB

Now here's the deal, I play ArmA III which is a pretty High-End game in my opinion;
I wanted to improve my performance on the game so I could run it on Ultra. As of right now with my current settings I can run it on Standard with around 30FPS on an online game.

So recently I decided I wanted to make a maximum of a 200$ investment on either a CPU or GPU to boost up that FPS a bit. So my question is, with my current settings what would be best to invest in?

Here's my options:

New CPU : AMD FX-8150 8 Core Processor AM3+
OR
New GPU : XFX Radeon HD7850 DD 2GB

Now.. if I get a new GPU I'm not sure if my CPU will be able to handle it without bottlenecking, but if I get a new CPU I'm not sure if it'll help much with performance.

What do you guys think?

More about invest performance cpu gpu
  1. DO NOT GET THE 8150

Get the 8350 or 8320 if you want to upgrade, the 8150 is a downgrade to a Celeron from 10 years ago.
  2. I would go for the GPU first, but make sure your PSU can handle it. Also your CPU can be OC'd to about 3.1 or 3.2 easily.
If you did the CPU upgrade you would need a MB and possibly ram.

gpu is not really a gaming gpu and since your going to have to change motherboard and cpu and possibly os if you dont have a windows operating disc with key then it will cost more then 200

    personally up your gpu first

however if your motherboard is am3 plus then check your motherboard online and flash bios and get a fx 6300 which is by far better then fx 8150 which is older garbage using older cores which are buggy.

    so my advise is this

    7850 2gb

    600w evga

later on upgrade cpu , motherboard and if you dont have os buy it again

    fx 6300
970 series motherboard flash bios to latest
    same ram if its ddr3
    os
