Hi,

Today while i was using my PC, smell of burning plastic filled the room. It was coming from computer case. I turned PC off, opened it up but couldn't really pinpoint where the smell was coming from. I think it was coming from top of the computer case (there is DVD player there, and that green board with shutdown, reset, fan control buttons)

I read other threads they mention it is usually PSU or GPU, but i don't think smell was coming from either of those. My PC is brand new ~1month old, i will provide specs if needed.

Should i be worried about this smell, and how can i find out what was burning?

Thanks in advance.

You should be concerned. The problem could come from any area inside e.g. motherboard, PSU, associated devices.
The real issue is that there may be more than one area involved and unless you are very confident in your pc troubleshooting skills, you need to get it checked out fully by someone who is.

Luckily, since your pc is around 1month old you should consider returning it since it should be under warranty. I would be pushing for a replacement rather than getting them to fix it, though the decision would be theirs.
