Strangely my CPU can only select a fixed multiplier value, after boot the ratio multiplier remains the same , even with turbo boost active . This would be fine for gaming , though prefer the auto clocking on the fly
In contrast my other rig with an AMD Quad , throttles and overclocks automatically respective to load
The i5 cpu clock ratio multiplier according to the bios can only be set with a 9-22 value , there is no AUTO option.. Once Windows boots the clock ratio remains static and does not change even under different loads . I can however change the base clock to auto , though the base-clock just ratio remains at static value selected
I find this frustrating as the CPU ideally should change like my AMD chip .For example it would be ideal if the clock decreased to X9 when not used . Though it is constant unless changed in the bios
I've tried changing the other settings such as C1E and Turbo Boost .
Please let me know your experience of the i5 chips and your thoughts on this issue
Rant over - But solution appreciated
I use CPU-Z to measure the clock speed and ratio
Intel I5 760 ( 1156 chip )
