I am new to Tom's Hardware, but so far, it looks great. I have an Asus M5A97 LE R2.0. I am building a gaming computer, and I was wondering if Intel and NVidia were compatible with it. Do you have any suggestions for CPUs or GPUs?

Ok, so assuming a total budget of $500 for both the GPU and CPU, I would recommend an FX-8350 ($200) and an R9 280X ($300).

If you are willing to go up to $600 then you could potentially swap out the R9 280X for an R9 290 ($400). If you want to go this route I really recommend waiting for the release of custom cooling solutions from board partners however, since the reference cooler on the 290 is terrible.

This all assumes that you already have or can get a PSU that can handle these components.

That motherboard is compatible with any AMD CPU that is socket AM3 or AM3+ (so FX series with model numbers X1XX or X3XX). It is also compatible with pretty much every model of GPU from AMD or Nvidia. It is not compatible with SLI and while technically it can support crossfire, I wouldn't recommend it since it lacks the proper number of PCI-e lanes to make it worthwhile.

As for what CPU/GPU to recommend, it would help to know a budget.
