ASRock 970 Extreme3 Motherboard Install Win 7 issues

I've had the Version 1 ASrock Extreme3 motherboard for over a year and had originally installed windows 7 pro on it. Well I decided it was time to reinstall and have a clean slate. The motherboard will not install Windows 7 or XP (to which I could upgrade to Win 7). I've done the memory checker, I've tried two different working hard drives, the cd rom works and reads, switched cables and SATA ports, tried 2 different installation discs for Win 7 pro, and XP.

The error I get is that it can't detect hardware. It says its caused by a failing Hard Drive or CD-Rom (which I know isn't the case). It will read the XP disc up to "Installing Devices" then it will Blue Screen, and when booting from the Win. 7 disc it will sometimes load 1/10th of the way before giving me the error and sometimes it will load to about 90% before the error. I've also gotten a corrupted file error as well.

The ironic thing is, I am using the very same computer to type this as I loaded Linux Ubuntu successfully from a disc. So I know its not either the hard drive or dvd drive.

Is it something I'm missing in BIOS? I've tried flashing it to 1.7 but it slowed way down and then didn't do anything for a long time. I'm just wondering if theres a setting in the UEFI that needs to be changed to allow Win 7 to be installed.

Here's my system spec:
AMD FX 8150 CPU
ASRock 970 Extreme3
Radeon 6858
8 gigs Corsair Vengence Memory
Corsair TX850 Watt PSU
Seagate 250 gig SATA 3.0 (yeah its not a lot but I really only play a few games and don't download a lot of music or movies).

The specific error is:
"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer"
Status: 0xc00000e9
An unexpected I/O error has occurred

I had that problem too. Because win 8 has UEFI, you cannot install win 7 as its a MBR. Here is what mine said:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. It has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems windows can only be installed to GPT disks. The instructions to fix this issue: Put in your Windows 7 Disk
At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DIS 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CONVERT MBR
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS
ACTIVE
EXIT
Then continue to load windows 7. Should work great! But also, you need to go into your bios in win 8 and disable secure boot and enable legacy support
