Can bad ram cause reset?

Hi,

Recently I got a new build, I bought a new motherboard (Asus Maximus VI Hero) and a new CPU (4670k). They seem to work fine.

The only problem with my build seems to be the ram, since I didn't change it. And it's a quite cheap set of ram (it came with the old acer computer that I'm changing piece by piece).

So I was wondering if it could be the cause of the resets that I get from time to time, when I play games or when I surf on the net. I don't think it's the PSU (I got a Corsair HX 520)

Side note: my temperatures are in the low 30s for everyting when IDLE.

Solution
As said, run memtest. www.memtest.org for at least one full pass (about 30min for 8GB).

If you have errors, you need to RMA the memory or buy a new set such as 1866MHz G. SKill 8GB (2x4GB).

I tried to underclock my RAM, I'll see if it helps. (do you think it can help?)

Ok, I'll run the memtest later, I just played a full game of battlefield 3, after underclocking the ram, and I had no problem. I hope it's fixed, we'll see after memtest.
